This one is taken in my living room. Although I prefer pictures taken in the garden (good old fashioned daylight), that'll have to wait until I've got some extra guitar stands...
From left to right:
- 1999 Orion
- 1991 EVH Signature
- 1988 Elan
- 1980 Series I

Wifred: Very nice family...they're quite photogenic!
-
That's a very versatile collection Wilfred. I'm always surprised seeing those Elan's, they DO have a very attractive and graceful shape!!
And granny ...well she looks damn sexy laying down before the rest!
Paul TBO
-
Very nice collection, and as usual, I'm jealous!
Ellery (Lowlife)
-
Don't be jealous ...he can only play at one at the time. When he starts playing at them all 4 the same time ...well ...THAN you may be jealous!!! LOL
Paul TBO
BTW: there is a picture somewhere of EVH playing 3 basses at the same time. Tapping one left handed, tapping one right handed and bumping the groove with his right foot out of a third one standing on a stand beside him.
That's the farest he got!
-
Wilfred: As always, I love seeing the unusual figuring on your Orion. Its great to see the rest of the family, too. I'll bet you wish you could play more than one at a time!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the positive comments! Well, as soon as I'm able to play more than one bass at the same time, I'll definitely let y'all know. Just don't hold your breath waiting for that moment! ;-)
BTW: Paul TBO, 'granny' wants me to let you know she isn't too pleased with that nickname. And come to think of it, being 4 years older than her, neither am I! Hmmm, but wait, what does that make........... YOU?

Paul, especially for you (and because I'm so happy with her) a close-up of my latest addition:

I can only agree with you about those elegant lines...

Beautiful collection. It's nice to have choices, isn't it?
-
Thanks Jeff, it certainly is!

Ohmawgod!!!!
***sigh***
-
Man oh man! If I was a termite I'd be thinking, Four course meal at a five star restaurant! The Elan has to be desert! Tasty collection there, Wilfred!
Hmmm! How about this for an advertising slogan, The Alembic Elan, a fine after-dinner desert bass.

Reid, my twisted mind (or is it just a weird sense of humour?) likes that! I can just see a highly exaggerated cartoon termite having a bite at one of those horns! Yummie, yummie, yummie, I've got ALEMBIC in my tummy, crunch, crunch...

Excellent grouping. A lot of goodies there, my friend. Nice photography, too.
Peace,
James

Beautiful collection! It becomes an obsession in some cases. Enjoy them for years to come.

the_mule,
Is your 1980 Series I a short-scale? I'm looking for a short-scale. Here's mine (76-265)...(http://club.alembic.com/Images/394/15437.jpg)
-
I saw a picture in Bass Player several years ago of Michael Manring playing 3 basses. He was hitting open-string root notes on one that was held by another person. He was tapping notes on one held by someone. He was playing a strapped on bass regular style.

the_mule,
Great looking collection...here's one with my l.e.d.'s lit up.(http://club.alembic.com/Images/394/15441.jpg)
-
You can watch Michael Manring play three basses on the bass day 98 video its well worth a look he does a great version of teen town as well
-
Very nice basses wilfred! I still cant get over that grafted walnut, it's beautiful.
BTW... Manring actually plays four basses at one time on the Bass Day 98 video... my mouth gapes everytime i see it, and it made me buy a Hyperbass.

Well, things have changed since I started this thread. I went from 4 to 2 Alembics. The Series I has found a new owner through EVH's shop and fellow Dutch member Just will be enjoying the Elan very soon now. My G.A.S.-budget has been building up and I actually intend to purchase a new non-Alembic friend for my Orion and EVH, but I'm afraid it's too early to tell you more right now...
Wilfred
-
Very curious to see what your new bass is going to be Wilfred. I just hope it's not a Fender P.

Brett, a little teaser only showing a small but beautiful detail of the non-Alembic bass that will become a companion to my Orion and EVH. Hopefully all can and will be revealed in the Misc. section soon...

Wilfred,
That looks a bit like a Fodera to me.
Do tell
-
Nope, no Fodera, but not bad at all for a first guess. THE GAME IS ON!!
Hints so far:
1. Picture as shown in previous post
2. This EXACT SAME bass has been reviewed in Bass Player magazine (how cool is that!)
Wilfred
-
OK, I'll play
I'm guessing it's a F Bass.

Well, I'm at a disadvantage because I never read BP (too expensive here), so I'll guess
Marchelewski, or Hanewinkel. Or maybe it's a Wishnevsky....
-
im going to guess benevente. if its not fodera, that has to be it. (digs through old bp's....)
