..Ok so I'm in my little Home Studio doing some recording and while taking a break I look up at notice a scratch on one of my Alembics. And I think to my self Where in the world did that come from?
It's one of those inevitable things I guess, like that first scratch on the NEW car, the dent in the tail gate of your PU or the first time you drop your motorcycle. You say it won't happen but.... if you use it they will come.
Someone say a dirty word for me will ya?

Oh by the way , NO NOT THE APLHA OMEGA BASS. (I would've said the dirty word myself had it been)
It's my Burl Maple MK.

Just for you Olie.

Dutch lesson:
Lesson one, Sailing vessels and rigging :-)
Fok (pronounced as you write it)
Means:
Foresail
1.The principal square sail hung to the foremast of a square-rigged vessel.
2.The principal triangular sail hung to the mast of a fore-and-aft-rigged vessel.
3.The triangular sail hung to the forestay of a cutter or sloop.
Next time you can't find the right words, think of my little Dutch lesson :-)

Oh Fudge!

Another Dutch term of endearment - cut! Add an n to know what it means. Whenever one of my colleagues bursts out in cut! I usually add ... and paste.

I Played the A-O bass today at church and not matter what I did I just couldn't get a good sound. It just didn't have the thump and Ba**s it normally does.
I was think maybe new strings, maybe it's the amp....I added more bass, added more treble, tweaked the EQ and nothing helped. UNTIL the last song and I realized something very important that I forgot.....
....that little switch on the DS-5. Doh!!!

Nice. Although I often play with only the bridge pickup-- I might not have noticed.

I always use both Pups. I may tweak 'em a little but always have some of both.

This is where I was sitting when I noticed THE SCRATCH. My Wife says I'm crazy for spending so much time here.
I'd like a second opinion.

Nice walls and wall art in the studio! Beautiful collection Olie. I second your opinion.
-
Thanks Art, hmmm I think she locked the door. (Knew I should've put a couch in here). LOL

I absolutely adore the Series/Distillate controls 5 with the wide Omega. If you ever lose your mind and want to sell it, hollah!
Hey Ollie, at least your wife always knows where you are. Just steer her away from Desperate Housewives. Been known to cause trouble fer some folks!
-
Thanks Danno, that was my first Alembic. Its actually a MK with; dummy humm canceller, Europa Electronics, custom neck width and extended upper horn.
And the Burl maple (front and rear)on this bass is the bomb.

Kind of late isn''t it, don't you have school tomorrow?

I'm off all week mah man! All the more time to change strings and tweek my collection and experience the where did that come from in spades. I love new strings so I keep at least 10 to 15 sets on hand. Time to restock next week!
-
Hmmmmmm, Olie ... a Caribou and two Power Mark XXs, one in natural and one in brown ... love the Daion wall. I could stage the same pic with Power Mark XX guitars, tan and brown, and a Caribou too! Looks like a sweet set-up.

That's actually a Gazelle Bill. It was my mom's, she bought it new in 81 I beleive.
OO
-
My favorite is that Gazelle...I just got one of those as a pawn shop prize a couple of months ago. Oh, and the Alembics are sort of decent, too, I guess.
-
Thanks Will, I'm kind of partial to that one myself, of course it does have a lot of sentimental value too.
The other acoustic, you can only see part of it, next to the Ibanez 8 is a 63 Martin D-35. It was my grandmothers.
OO
-
I'd always heard they introduced the D-35 in '65. Always nice to learn guitar trivia; thanks, Olie.
Peter
-
You are correct Peter it is a '65 D-35. I also have my grandmothers '53 D-18 and I get the dates transposed in my head sometimes, I'll think '63 and '55 instead of '65 and '53.
