Brother David!
XQS me my ignorance but what happened?
Where there any girls around you need to undress?? (Hehehehehehehehehe)
With all my respect for your Alembic and Alembic in general but I sincerely HOPE you didn't quit on playing bass!!!!

Bro Paul
I've been playing the Epic for my live bass and and my Series 1 for the studio.
as for the naked girls , with all the drinking, there was a good chance, but it didn't happen
The Series was a dream to play

The Series basses kind of ruin the fun of playing anything else, don't they!
John
-
Yep John!
I remember Brother Jan the River one with his gorgeous Marylin. His two EVH's ended up as wall-garnish.
I don't know these days cause I didn't hear of him since a long time!
The other basses I have are chosen because they are faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from the Series II spectrum.
I know ...that IS difficult bacause you can get any tone but ...it IS easier sometimes to just pick-up that bass for a peticular and immidiate sound.
So I don't collect basses. I am lokking merely for very peticular soundshapes.
That's why the Epiphone Jack Casady is still on my wish-list (when I'll be grown up ...and VERY rich and wealthy!!!!)

Actually the Jack Casady Epiphones are not that expensive (in the U.S. anyway). I also read a rumor(Could be B.S.) that if you buy the bass from his website, he sets them up himself before shipping them. Here's a link:

just click on Signature Bass.

2 years of not touching the S1?
isn't there some sort of penalty or something for that kind of misbehavior?
you're a bad boy..vedy vedy bad
-
Basses are like women they need IT often...... Not touching your seriesI for that long is like saying your girl doesnt turn you on anymore!.....how dare you,,,,,your lucky it didnt leave you for some one else's caressing & loving hands!
-
I think David is saying he hasn't taken the Series on a gig in two years. He's been playing it in the studio but not out and about.

I never said I hadn't played my series 1 for 2 years, I've just kept her away from smokey bars
and small stages for 2 years

Mike,
Nice link. Nice to hear Jack play.
Paul TBO,
I do know what you mean. Playing my 12-string bass on a handful of songs is fun (and a lot of work) and sounds huge. I also enjoy playing my cheapo Lakland because it's different and demands that I approach what I'm doing differently. It's a lot like Broomstick in that sense I suppose, though I would like to stuff it with Alembic pickups and guts. I forget, did Joost take Broomstick with him to college?
John
-
Hi John,
how are you doing??
Yes indeed Joost took Broomstick to Ebeltoft in Danmark.
He is here now for the holidays and he brought the news that ...he actually joined a student band there with a monster guitarplayer/singer and keyboards and drummer. Joost is really enjoying bassplaying and discovered the thrill of being on stage and get an audience on the move with the groove!
Another dream is to transform Broomstick to a decent fretless with new guts (Alembic or not). Though ...than Broomstick wouldn't be Broomstick anymore. There are medium gauge flatwounds on it and it has that really wompy 50's sound. Of COURSE I can get that sound with Bonnie but ...well ...I'd rather pick up Broomstick for that.
I'll ask Joost to drop you a line on mail. The school he is in (www.efc.dk (http://www.efc.dk)) is really great and he is doing well. Though he is and will always be a advertising-film man, born for the maximum 60 second story format.

I always use my MK signature..why.. well
1. In the North East of England there are not many around
2. I always get asked questions about it
3. It has THE tone
4. It looks good alongside the drummers top of the range Pearl MasterWorks Kit which is also bubinga facings
Clean the freboard with lemon oil, polish the finish with Alembic Supreme Polish..keeps it in great looks
Alembics love to be played and not stored in vaults like overpriced, over exagerrated 50's strats!!
