Hi, I am sure this is a simple question covered elsewhere, but here goes. I am going to be near the Alembic factory in a couple of weeks. How should I set up a visit? Also, what good guitar stores are there around San Francisco that I should visit that carry vintage equipment?
Thanks,
Dave

Hello Dave,
give me a call at 707-523-2611 or email me at valentino@alembic.com (mailto:valentino@alembic.com) and we'll set up a time. Tuesdays don't work, bacause I am off on those days.

It's well worth the tour!
Valentino was excellent when I dropped in a few years back.
(Thanks again Valentino, It's still a talking point today!)

New member here. Just found this site. I have a 30 year old SERIES 1 s/n 399. This bass is retired due to i'ts case condition. With this much support maybee I can have a new one made. Just asking. M.S.

Pictures!

Michael (S.),
If you continue to spend time here, you'll shortly realize that alleging that you own an Alembic without posting photographic evidence will have people asking for pictures. I suppose the other Michael already gave you that impression, though (and only 7 minutes later! I know you love the old Alembics, but you're worrying me here!).
Anyhow, posting an introduction in the introduction section, or better yet, pictures in the showcase would be great.

M.S., welcome to the club. We do love pictures here. Obviously new old Alembics don't pop up every day, so we would really like to see pics of yours.

Hi Michael, welcome to the group! If you are thinking of ordering a new case from Alembic, you should give Val a call. Case prices can be found here (http://www.alembic.com/prod/prices.html).

Requested photos from old guy. 1976 S-1 s/n 399. Needs a new case, photos will follow.

dela, byoung, richbass, davehouck. Thanks for the interest and support. I've sent a few photos, none of which are what you want. I've invited my son over to help catalog a slide show. byoung mentioned a showcase I've yet to find. This IS a massive site. Thanks again, Michael Sturges

Hey, Michael, I noticed two things.... First, you're not that far away from me. (I'm in Lutherville.) Second, you're not really that old. (I have you beat by at least a dozen years :-)!)

Michael; nice bass! Are the top and back Vermilion?
You're right; this is a large site!
When you are on the Main Page (http://alembic.com/cgi-bin/alembic-club/discus.cgi?pg=topics), scroll down to the the eighth topic which is called Showcase (http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/411.html?1139761973).
In that section, you'll want to list your bass in the Series I basses and guitars (http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/417.html?1139582255) section.
The instructions for posting pictures can be found here (http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/447.html?1022542644).

... and yeah, around here, at your age, you have to be a little cautious about designating yourself as old :-)
Welcome, Michael, stick around and have a great time. And not having a case is a lousy reason to retire a beautiful bass like that. Try using the Search function (you should see it at top and bottom of most windows), and you should be able to turn up a number of suggestions.

More photos in showcase. Whoops, forgot to add s/n. (76 399) Tried many angles to show s/n, I'm still a film user not yet digital. This site is really fun! You people are all very interesting and helpful. My bass is smiling. After all it being a 1976, it is the youngest instrument in my collection. Craves attention. Michael S.

Look at show case for s/n 399 s-1. I'm really bad at this computer biz!
