Personally, and with all due respect to Alembic, I'd source my own case. I have both OHSC and ATA Flight cases from Alembic (both '04 and both new)...the wait is long and the price is high and I'm not a real fan of either case, IMHO.
I'd recommend a flight case (with wheels preferably)..try Calzone. For a hard shell case, try Ameritage..VERY pricy, but very nice.
I have a new custom HSC on order from Ameritage for my Heritage Golden Eagle Archtop Jazzbox...it has a built-in digital hygrometer and built-in humidifier (for winter) and de-humidifier (for summer). You can buy direct for MSRP or go to a dealer, like J. Hale Music, for a discount.
Why a new case? The OHSC from Heritage was shipped cracked when new, and the new upgraded Canadian-made case is a POS and has already caused damage to the guitar!
Just my $0.02.
Cheers,
Kevin

#12, I can see where you'd want a new case, and there are zillions of sources. Be sure that they know what it's for as the usual generic bass case is shorter/too narrow for a Series-shaped bass. I love the idea of a bag, but it's just too easy to ding your axe right through the bag.
But for gosh sakes, don't ever get rid of that work of art ! !

I'm looking to replace the OHSC for my new Series I and I am currently pricing both HS and flight cases. I'll let you know how I make out price-wise.

If thinking to spend a lot of money at a new case ...why not renovate and even re-inforce the old one??
I would LOVE that case!!!

If you are looking for a traditional hard shell you might try G&G. They have a web site and are the same company that makes cases for Alembic.

For a really good bag check out the new gig bags by Body Glove, the wet suit people. There was a discussion about these around here a while ago that you can probably dig up with a search on Body Glove. It is actually a hard-sided gig bag! VERY protective and reasonably priced at about $130 or so. They have both guitar and bass. You'd probably want to check the dimensions first to see if your series fits. The only booger I've found is the over the shoulder strap could have been mounted far more ergonomically. There is also a separate unzipping compartment holding full backback type shoulder staps and even a waist belt!. All this, and it comes with a little bag for picks, strings, whatever that attaches to the amp handle with velcro, if you want to. By far the most protective gig bag I've encountered yet.

When 76-407 got stolen, they took the nice looking guitar cases and left the crappy case, the crappy case had a 1959 Fender Strat in it!!
keep the old case, it looks great

Regarding the Body Glove gig bag: Does anyone know if that bag fits a 32 Series 1? I need a new gig bag soon...
-
the original case is long gone for 76-294
I use this older Anvil case for travel, and a soft bag for local stuff.

You know, if either of you guys, or anyone else on this board, ever has any issues regarding jail or some other encounter with the criminal justice system, you can always bend my ear and get a little free advice. Just email me off the board and I'll send you my office number. Or, you can always get my office contact info at norml.org. Click on find a lawyer and then on California on the map. I've been doing criminal defense work for almost 20 years now. Some people actually think I know what I'm doing! lmao!

Keavin, are you still looking for a good case/bag? I have a semi-hard bag that seems pretty sturdy. I wouldn't want it in the hold of a plane, but otherwise it seems pretty tough. It came to me second hand and is made by the Modern Case Company. I was going to recommend it, but it seems like they've ceased to exist. Maybe yo ucould find out who Alembic got the semi-hard Epic cases from?

bsee, Gator cases (www.gatorcases.com (http://www.gatorcases.com)) makes those cases, which are halfway between a bag and a hard case. StewMac also sell some from a different brand. Don't know where ALEMBIC sourced theirs. They also sell the hard, rolling case that you slip your bagged bass into.

Bodyglove (the scuba equipment people) recently came out with a true hard-sided gig bag. It's been discussed previously on this site. It's a helluva gig bag.
