Title: Tweak Peaks Revisited
Post by: palembic on August 21, 2006, 02:22:39 PM
Ladies and gentle people, Bro's and Sis's   after some years of hard trouble I was able to reconstruct Tweak Peaks: my rig.
She got herself a new head ...talking about an extreme makeover HA! I divided the old rig (remember: 8HE) in two: it's a more "handy" format and better for my spine! The new QSC-PLX 3102 handles 2x900w at 4ohms (I play the F1-X in Bi-amp). The amp is really light-weight and very clean-souding. In one flightcase is the QSC-PLX together with the F1-X and the SF-2 (yep ...study time again friends). Comes in handy when I don't want to play the complete set! I can play my Ellio MArtina and my Rob Allen through it! The second case gets a "plate" at the top (where I put my cables, spare stuff, etc ..., than power supply, Korg DT 1 and DS-5R.  In short ...."I'm baaaa-ack!!!!!"  Paul TBO

Oh yes,
and of course you can see old trusted Bonnie in the saddle again (better: on her String Swing) and ...don't forget the presence of Red and Bonnie's cool black&gold bra!

Now that I'm thinking of it: there IS something to say for putting the poweramp and the pre-amp and filter far away from each other for hum reasons but until now there is not much of a noise!

Let's see, Series 2/5, Alembic front end processing, QSC horsepower, Glockenlang cabinets . . . . gee, Paul, have you got the world by the tail or what?  Terrific rig.

BPTBO,

My hat (knobs) off to anyone who can figure out how to meaningfully adjust a rig like that. I'd be lost for months. Congrats!

Regards,

Dr. J.

Thanks guys!
It IS fun to start tweaking again. It is not THAT difficult to do because I lmerely consider it as a 3 band EQ (which sounds very disrespectful but I know you allknow what I mean).
The sound is very direct ...I know nothin g else to say!

PS: talking about tweaking the pictures don't show that my Lexicon MPX100 Multichannel effect is ...on the back side of the top case.
I only activate it (I put it BEFORE any other device) when needed. The preset different choruses in combination with different delays are handy and very nice to use

Very nice rig paul, bet it sounds excellent - that really is alot of knobs.
BTW, where did you get the guitar cradle - looks like a really good way to keep Bonnie away from sound guys and the like who could knock her over.

Graeme!!!
How are you my friend?
Highlands also wetlands?
See www.stringswing.com (http://www.stringswing.com)
My lost Brother Jan Rivi?re (Jan the River One) who owns Marylin (see http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/6742.html?1070816970 (http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/6742.html?1070816970 target=_top)) ordered it for me when he bought his' . He bought the wall hangers, I bought these ones
VERY handy indeed but ...well ...you need a rig with some height for clamping a Bonnie-sized bass!

Even more: Graeme's rig is about 5 knobs more tweaky than mine! And that is except the little switches!
HA!
Of course Gaeme's rig has didactical well-considered coloured knobs! Can he goes on Warp 11???
hehehe

Oh Yes. The footswitch has a 10db 'turbo boost' button. Scares the hell out of my guitarists (which is exactly as it should be)

Graeme

p.s. I'll post a pic tomorrow of the head all lit up, it's very pretty.

Yes Graeme, when they are all lit up it reminds of Christmas.

All of the lights remind me of when the newer mainframes came out in the early 80's. A junior college I had as an account was making a recruiting film. Part of the film was showing the new computer. When the director saw it he wondered where all of the light were since you can't have a computer without lots of flashing lights. As he looked around he saw the controller for their network which had lots of flashing lights. From that day forward it was called the mainframe.

Keith
(Who, thanks to Paul, now realizes he also has 5 more knobs on his rig than Paul does. LOL)

Great than I have two bro's who can explain what the realtion is between that Eden and the QSC-PLX?
In the rig that I have it's easy: it's pre-amping ! Without a poweramp ...NO noise.
Is that Eden also a pre-amp???

That's right Paul. It's Edens WP100 Navigator pre-amp. Incredibly versatile.

Paul:

I like it!  I bet I'd love the way it sounds!  But I don't know if I'd refer to the Moody strap as Bonnie's bra.  After all, Alembics are children of the 60's (which truly overlapped into the early 70's).  I'd like to think they are still all going bra-less!

Power to the pickup!!!

Hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
love you Bill!!!!
One of the girls I knew/know had/has a WONDERFUL seyx bra in black and gold lace!
Purposeless in a certain way of view and ...what??? ...oh!!!...uhuhuh...ok moder ...we're not going in those details here.
Anyway ...those things are not only for supportive goals if I make myself clear.

Paul the bad one

Mmmm ...i'm bad you know ;-)

Gee, Paul, I never figured Bonnie was that kind of a bass!  Should we start referring to her as Bonnie, TBO?  LOL    IMHO Bonnie is gorgeous eye candy au natural, no need for musical lingerie to make her more attractive!

There's a racklight built into the tuner just above the Nav's eq and if I'm beating the hell out of the bass, the signal LEDs on both amps light up like a firework ;-)

Paul, it's good to see Tweak Peaks back in the game.  I know you're happy.  Is there a Blue Stuff website in the future?  I would enjoy hearing some tracks.

Graeme, you should put your tuner display on strobe.  That would keep the lights going.

And here I am looking for something with fewer knobs.

Sam, you could always take Jimmy Johnson's approach: plug straight into the power amp.

Even better: I will plug direct in the Poweramp a Fodera Anthony Jackson Signature Contrabass guitar! Now THAT will be direct!
