I need to know what wood this bass is? Does the serial number give any indication or do we have to just look and compare?

If you can post the serial number in the Owning an Alembic section, subsection Serial Number Requests, and wait a couple of weeks, someone at the factory will dig up the file on your bass and post the contents of the build sheet.
Other than that, if you can upload a photo perhaps we can have a guess - mind you, some woods look a lot alike.

I was typing while you uploaded it. I think there was a discussion on the top wood of this very same Epic a couple of days ago?

Savell:
This bass does look like the one previously discussed here:

Looking at the picture in that thread I gave the opinion it was Bocate. However, after looking at your picture, I think it might actually be Cocobolo. I'm 95% sure it's one or the other. Adrian's right about posting the serial number in the request section. Though my experience is that you will have an answer in a matter of days rather than a couple of weeks. Either way, a very pretty bass.

Thanks Adrian. I just posted the serial number. Now it's wait and see time.
Thanks Bill for the compliment. I like this bass a lot but I haven't had the chance to play it very much since I no longer play bass in the band. I have been playing pedal steel for quite a while now. I do miss it every now and then. Sometime I think I will sell it but when somebody gets interested, I start having second thoughts. Its bought and paid for now, I guess I ought to hang on to it.
