Been a while since I have posted, and just thought I would drop in to say howdy...
Though I don't post much I do try and sneak through on occasion to see what is happening. The reason I don't is that I miss my Series and coming around really makes it almost intolerable. Just thought I would post a few thoughts if it's OK...
1-I miss my Alembic (have I said that yet???) I have a nice bass that was given to me by a friend (an old P-Bass w/flats aptly nicked Ol' Thumper. I sound just like Carol Kaye...just wish I could play like her!!!)
2-If you ever get an Alembic, and if you love it one gazillionth as much as I loved mine, NEVEREVEREVERNEVER GET RID OF IT!!!
3-I miss the Wickershams.
I will have another Series someday.
Love to all...

Steve,
I know the feeling.
I miss my Spyders too, although I have Tears for John now.....

It sounds like you need another Alembic to fill that void Steve! Any plans on buying one soon?
-
Hey Steve - we miss you too! Make sure you visit when you on the north side.

Waited 20 years for mine ever since seeing stanley play one on The OLd Grey Whistle Test(UK music programme from the 70's)..I remember saying to myself That is not a fender or Gibson Only when I bought a RTF album that the cover notes said Alembic basses.
School Days is the audible selling pitch for Alembics - listen to that and you know it is the best sounding bass ever
The only way I would get rid of mine is to get another
-
School days is a crazy sweet song. I wish I could sound/play like Stanley does. Does he use flatwound strings?
-
Stanley uses light gauge Rotosound roundwounds. He runs the bass stereo with the neck going through to 18's and the neck going through 2- 4x10's.

Doesn't he still use that Roland Jazz Chorus guitar amp?
-
Hi, Terryc, your story about the old grey whistle test is exactly the same as mine. We must have been watching the same show. And the RTF album discovery of the bass name is also the same. I think if I remember rightly it says Alembic Bass with Instant flanger.... lol
I'd only get rid of mine when I get my call to leave the planet. Then I'd probably have my favourite bolted to the lid of the coffin.
Morbid thought lol.

Hmmm. 5A quilt maple coffin with ebony and purpleheart laminates. Could be a lucrative side earner for Alembic ;-)

Adriaan,
He might still use the Roland. I know he has also used a 4x12 Marshall and Fender Twin in the past.

Thanks for the thoughts, folks. I actually had someone say to me not too long ago...aw, it was just a bass. I will refrain from any further comment on that little tidbit.
It took about 20 years to get my first (I also had a cool little 82 Spoiler) and I can be patient.
Saw Flim playing with JT the other day on a dvd...sigh
Saw Stanley on that video someone posted...
That was enough...sigh again
I will have another, southpaw.
Mica, love ya!!! And mom, and, dad, and Mary, and the whole Alembic family. Going through Santa Rosa and not stopping in would be unforgivable. Count on that!!!
Love to all...
Steve
