Title: The Starburst DW is home.
Post by: fish on August 15, 2007, 05:16:56 PM
The Starburst DW is home.  Here are some pictures.  It will take me some time to set this up, so I will report back later.  Out of the box and controls at full throttle, it just kicks a$$.  I love the long-ness of the neck. I love the small details like how the gloss finish transitions from the back of the body to the flat finish on the back of the neck.

Where are the knobs and jacks?  That's beautiful!  It's awesome that those controls are hidden.

Don't know if I'd go for that knobless look myself, but that is one beautiful instrument.  Is that a dummy Humcanceller?

Congrats!

Hey Oliver, if you ever make it on this side of the pond, you will have to try out your DW?s sister bass.

Chuck and Sam it has a side jack and rear controls.

I will try to take some good photos of the back plate with the control slots late.

I cannot say it enough how team Alembic just got every detail down that I wanted.

Many Thanks.

I'm guessing you must not make many changes to your settings... Nice quilt.

Once I find the ?sweet spot? on an instrument, I rarely change it.

On my basses, it's usually the sweat spot.  ;)

Beautiful bass!

Congrats on another stunning addition to your collection. The Dragon Wing is my favorite Alembic, it make my heart jump when I see one.
Unfortunately the cost of a new Alembic will keep it the dream catagory for me.
play it in good health.

I agree with many here that dragons wing is a really great looking bass. Seeing it without the controls takes some getting used to gut it does keep the purity of the wood.

Could you imagine how orgasmic it would look with bookmarked to centre top wood and continuous wood pickup covers done in the same to laminate?

Pricey I bet too.
I could imagine reaching down to adjust the sound and find nothing there a little disconcerting at first.

Enjoy the bass it's a work of art.

Sweet Spot! that's exactly what I believe the electronics are supposed to do. They way I see it with the ability to adjust what your hearing in the particular environment is the entire intention of filters and eqs. You can flirt with the extremes for effect but ultimately your not going to change the fundamental sound that the bass has with its build type(woods). If your bass sounds bad it sounds bad. Alembic wouldn't be party to a bad bass. This why even a lowly Epic is a great bass. The Series basses must truly be fantastic.

I am starting to hone in on the sound that I want.

Thru my humble amplification, it now kind of sounds like someone injected four 1?  diameter piano strings with steroids and a 50 foot giant is dropping anvils on them.

I love it!!!

Humble. Yes, that's exactly the word I'd use. ;)
Strangely enough, I have the same carpet in my computer/practice room, which is where I am now.
