Title: Installing an adjustable nut
Post by: worldfamousandy on August 15, 2007, 08:32:43 AM
I just bought an '89 fretless Elan, which is a beautiful axe for a million different reasons.  One of the things I like is the adjustable nut.

I also have a '76 Series 1, which was built before adjustable nuts.  Any body know what it takes to fit an adjustable nut on that bass?

I would think that providing Mica with dimensions of the nut currently on the bass (or the nut itself) would be the place to begin.  After it's fabricated, replacing it would be just like replacing any other brass nut, I would think.

If you take apart the nut, the base plate comes off as well. I assume there is one or more threaded inserts to be installed as well. I would assume that regular brass nuts are glued on.
