This is for sale in Ma.-He said its an '82,and he contacted Alembic about electronic repairs.I could not fit other pics,the headstock is pointed,2 on a side,looks like schaller pegs,and there is a round glue mark where the logo would be.Thanks for your help.

Ask the current owner for a serial number, depending on the age it should be printed just past the 24th fret. Contact Alembic, if the description fits it is just a abused child looking for a good home. The nut, bridge, tail piece, neck, and general body position look right.

Looks like a Spoiler. There should be a serial number on the fretboard at the end just above the neck pickup. It's hard to tell much from the picture. It looks like the pickups may be mounted incorrectly and the neck pickup looks like it may be broken where one of the screws should be. There may be a gouge between the pickups, or it may just be glare. It looks to be an earlier model Spoiler since the neck pickup is closer to the neck than on the later models. Also, if it's an earlier model, it may be a solid Koa body; and it does kinda look that way in the picture. If the price is right, it could be worth going to see the bass if you can, or getting someone from the club to look at it (if there is a member in that area), or getting more and better pictures and more info. A picture of the inside of the cavity might be helpful. If the electronics were replaced with non-Alembic guts, then chances are the connectors from the pickup leads were removed. If the condition is otherwise good, contact Alembic for a quote on replacing the electronics, add that number to the offer from the seller, and then compare that to what you can get a good used Spoiler for. If everything works out, this good be a good deal. One other thought, you would probably want to have the logo replaced, and if I remember correctly, Alembic can not ship these out. So when you call Alembic about the electronics ask them about the logo too.

If I had to guess, I'd say a 'former owner' somewhere in this Spoiler's past was overcome by the purple fog when he couldn't wrap his brain around filters, etc., and forthwith set out to put some 'good' pickups in it. Thank Goodness he couldn't figure out how to FINISH wrecking it.

This is an early Spoiler. The original Spoilers were all solid Koa body wings, with a silver and black decal of the Alembic logo with Spoiler penned by my mom underneath. It wasn't too long before we changed the logo to the traditional decoration.
Dave is right, any logo replacements must be installed at the factory. Even though the mounting ear is broken on the neck pickup, it's likely it still works. Email our good Valentino [valentino at alembic dot com] for information on getting replacement electronics. We sometimes have cosmetic second pickups available at half the regular price.
