Title: MXY pup problem
Post by: pace on June 26, 2005, 07:05:40 PM
Sorry if this is redundant, just want to open a new thread in regards to a current / urgent problem.....

Did Alembic change the size of MXY (4string) pups at anytime during their production?!?

The reason I am asking is because I just traded a set out of a 1990 Essence to another forum member whom also owns a 1990 Essence~ according to him the screw holes do not line up.  Aside from an obvious change to the mold, are there any other issues we should be aware of?!?

thanks in advance!

MXY and AXY pickups are different sizes, Mike. I believe AXY is the size used in Series instruments, and Fatboy pickups are made from the same mold. Perhaps one of these instruments had one, and the other had the alternate?
Just a guess,
Mike

This is strictly a matter of two types of MXY's themselves~ What we've been able to gather so far is that my set had the smaller gold logo, while the original ones had the larger logo thats set deeper..... I didnt know that there was any difference in the screw spacing.

Hey - I learned something new today!

I didn't know the location had changed either. But the mold to shell comparison doesn't lie.

SO Mica
Does this qualify my Essence as prototype?
