Title: Swedish Alembicians?
Post by: albrecht on August 21, 2005, 01:07:39 AM
Being a new happy owner of a 6str fretted Epic I?ve become interested in Alembics history in Sweden. I know of three bassplayers that use/have used Alembics. Do you know of any more? Pics posted are of Tomas Netzler (of Kebnekaise), from their horrible 1978-album (but the bassound is good, off course!). This must be an early "Model ???". His still using it!

The front coverart by artist "Lojsa" (part shown) is quite interesting too, she?s caught some nice details!  (Message edited by davehouck on August 21, 2005)

Hi, Kristjan. I can't add to the history, but will enjoy reading more when it comes.

Speaking of Swede's,I want to try to get the fastest Swede I know,Kenny Brack,to try an Alembic guitar sometime.I think he would enjoy a California Special since he mostly plays Fender guitars and an occasional Gibson Les Paul.

He-he-he....we?got better & faster guitar players, that prob would notice the difference, too...Like the other Kenny (Hakansson) who plays with Tomas Netzler (alembician above!). Kenny?s is one of the worlds most original guitar players...Then we have Jojje Wadenius (former Chicago), Ulf Wakenius (famous jazzguitarist), &c, &c, &c....

Don't forget Stockholm's (Goteborg's?) favorite son: Yngwie Johann Malmsteen (nee' Lannerback). He's an egomaniac, and his music is dated neo-classical shred metal, but his playing is spectacular!

Don't forget the hair metal duo from Europe: John Norum and Kee Marcello!

Cheers,

Kevin

The guy from that late '80's to early '90's metal band 220 Volt was also good, but his name escapes me at the moment.

Another Swedish Hair Band Moment brought to you by KMH, LOL!

There's no one quite like Yngwie, although some have tried. He's quite bitter that he never acheived the superstardom he thinks he deserves, but his music never did and never will appeal to the masses. Shame, because he really is a brilliant player, and his classical forays (i.e., his symphonic compositions) were quite well received by fans and classical music buffs alike.

Personally, I dig him, and the egomania just furthers his infamy, LOL!
