Hey, congratulations Jeff. there can't be a bass more deserving of COTM than the Dire Wolf. I'm willing to bet you haven't put him down since July;-). Very special to have it the same month as Jerrys' sad demise too.

Congrat's Flax! The more I look at this thing, the more exquisite it becomes.
I almost missed it: the last COTM was up there so long I forgot to look. Thanks to Graeme in bonny Scotland for picking up on it.
That this bass should be the COTM on the 10th anniversary of Jerry's death is Kismet. Heaven always seems to shine down on the Dead, and here's another fine example of that.
You should link it over to the Dead's site...I'm betting a lot of DeadHeads would be interested in seeing it.
Enjoy!

Jeff, congratulations! Well deserved C.O.T.M.-spot. Should make a great 'conversation piece', you must be so proud!
Enjoy,

Beautiful bass, Jeff. Is it just me or is seeing your baby in Mica's FC format like seeing it for the very first time? Enjoy!

I was thinking the same thing, Jonathan! I notice for the first time that the wood truss rod cover gives the pickups a bridge-shifted look. Nice goin', Jeff! I look forward to seeing what vision you have for your next one...

Although I'm really partial to quilt, this cocbolo is sure starting to grow on me.
I sure wish CafePress could do a Dire Wolf/Alembic shirt!
BTW, what is the nut width and the final spacing at the 24th fret?

i never ever thought i would end up on the front page. i hoped,.... but until i saw it here.... god daymn.....

and for whippped cream on this cake?
i will be visiting the factory this monday the 15th....and working on the the next tribute to my favorite band...
I OWE EVERYONE AT ALEMBIC BIGTIME FOR THIS DREAM COMING TRUE, AND A SPECIAL THANK YOU FOR MY FRIEND VAL WHO CALMED ME DOWN WHENEVER I FREAKED AND GUIDED ME THROUGH MOST OF THE PROCESS.

BIG RED
THE NUT IS 1.75 W .180 EDGES- .500 SPACING AND 2.45 AT THE 24TH FRET
and it plays like butta
that was the big grand slam on the bass- it came out perfect
-
there is going to be a second. another tribute to my favorite musician and band
gonna be hard to top this though...
i feel so blessed.....
what a long strange wonderful trip my life has been- so far!=

Great bass Jeff.
THE NUT IS 1.75 W .180 EDGES- .500 SPACING AND 2.45 AT THE 24TH FRET
Been looking at close spacings for a 5 stringer for myself, and like the look of what you have here. Could you tell me what the spacing specs out at the bridge please?
-
total width at the bride is 2.75
so if its 2.5 at the 24th
am gussing it is slightly over .500
it plays like butter
you can check with val or mica- she said it was the first 5 string she could play
i nicknamed the neck valflax
am using it for my new order also

i know my days are numbered as the featured custom... i want to thank everyone for their kind words. to be included in the alembic hall of fame is something i never really thought would come to be. having it happen for august on the 10th anniversary of the jerry's passing made it even sweeter....

Don't worry, Flax...that bass will be hard to forget, especially because of the timing. It'll still be in the archives allways for all to enjoy, so don't sweat it. Post a pic now and again to remind the Alembic faithful about what is possible in Alembicland.
