Title: Reattaching/Regluing Inlays that have fallen off/out of the neck
Post by: ajdover on January 05, 2004, 09:11:53 AM
Everyone,

One of the inlays on my '84 Exploiter fell out/off of the neck.  Don't know why this happened, but it has.  I've emailed the good folks at Alembic for info, but wondered if anyone else had this problem, and how they went about reattaching the inlay.  The inlay is the standard oval, came off of the fifth fret, and is in one piece (not cracked).  Any ideas would be welcomed.

Thanks,

Alan

Hi Alan,

Use just a drop of superglue to reattach. Do a dry fit first to make sure it's aligned properly (there is an up).

If you use too much glue, it will ooze up around the inlay and force you to also sand the area, which is a little tricky.

Mica,

Thanks, followed your instructions and it worked perfectly.  Inlay is securely back where it belongs.  You guys are the greatest!

Thanks again,

Alan
