Title: Back from Orlando
Post by: malthumb on March 21, 2004, 01:30:27 PM
Just got back in from a week in Orlando.  While I was there I visited the Happiest Place On Earth.  Bass Central! (yeah I went by the place with the mouse, too).  I should've taken a camera.  That place was like Toys R Us for bassists.  They had 7 Alembics in stock, including an Essence 5 string, a Brown Bass, a Stanley Clark Deluxe, a Rogue, a Mark King, and a super-sweet quilted maple Series II with pistol grip, front & side LEDs, heart omega, inlaid shell ornament.  I didn't play it.  I would have found some twisted logic to force me to buy it, so I chose not to take the chance.

Anybody in the market for a new Alembic oughta check these guys out.

One casualty of being down there a week....UPS tried to deliver my straps 3 times while I was gone, so now I gotta figure out when I can make the trip over to the depot and pick them up.

Peace,

James

James,
I only can copy your statement. The guys at BassCentral are first class. I bought my two Spyders from them and their service is really outstanding!

I'm with both you guys about BassCentral.  They are all really knowledgable and their efforts to give great service never end.  Beaver helped me make the deal of a lifetime - I owe him for it.  The others are just fantastic too.  But you know, the bottom line about BassCentral is this:  Where else on this planet will you find three bass experts in one shop with names like Beaver, Grasshopper and Gard!?!?!

I'll definitely stop and see them when I get to Orlando (Seems like everyone with kids does every few years, huh?).  In all seriousness, though, anyone looking for an Alembic, especially if contemplating a custom built bass, should check BassCentral out.

I echo that as well. I bought some Euphonic Audio gear from them. Gard and Beaver really went to bat for me. I'd highly recommend them to anyone interested in bass or bass gear.

Been in/out of town. I was in Vancouver for a while on business and couldn't get onto the Internet. Hop you are well. Not much is up.

Stoney,
yes everything is fine.
Any new JE items?
I gave Johns shirt (you know the one from your photo) as a gift to the drummer of Johns solo band. He was overwhelmed by this. I still have another shirt from John in my collection; and this will stay here.

No real news Oliver.  That was nice of you to pass that shirt on to Steve. I'm sure he was touched by your gesture.

Did you get your strap and your 8-string yet?

Stoney,
the strap is in the make at the moment; the
8-string hopefully within the next two months.
As also as one of John?s Ovation basses I bought.
