Title: Help With Specs On '95 Custom... I Think?
Post by: frank_orlando on April 08, 2004, 06:13:56 PM
Hello, I just purchased my second Alembic and I'm like a kid on Christmas morning waiting for it to arrive! It was presented as a '95 Custom short scale. The serial no. is 95C9527. Can you tell me the specs on this bass and any other history you may have on it? I plan to register it on the web site once I have it in my hot little hands. My first Alembic is a 2001 Essence short scale. I never thought I would own two Alembics but life is short so....  Thank you! Frank

Hi Frank:  I saw your bass on Ebay before you bought it.  I'd really love to hear about it once you receive it.  It combines two things I like - Short scale and Fender body style.  We recently had some discussion in the Club about Fender style Alembics.

Your bass really looks sweet.  I think the maple top compliments the body shape very well.  The contrasting colors on the elbow cut are very sharp also.  Enjoy it!!  I think you found a winner - certainly one you won't see every day!  More pictures are always appreciated (especially when you've got something special).

I remember seeing this one on eBay, too.  I think it's one of those best of both worlds type of things.  First Alembic I can recall seeing with P-style pickups.

Real looker there, Frank!

Peace,

James

Thank you ALL for the kind words... I'll provide a review under a new string once I have a chance to set it up and play it. I am hoping that Mica or Val see my post and provide some info on the serial number I provided. Frank

My band... www.mediacrime.com (http://www.mediacrime.com)  yep, that's my Essence I am playing.

Great name for your cd Frank!  I assume it's in reference to the joke why did the punk rocker cross the road?...I love your band's description.

Nice Essence as well!

Hollis, you nailed it! Just a bunch of ex-hippies having a good time. Thanks for checking out the site.

You won't believe this but I bought that Essence on eBay in 2002 for $975 with the case! It was only a year old and is flawless. What is really weird is that no one bid on it and I bought it by emailing the owner after the auction ended. It has the SC neck, an optional Q-switch and it came with an extra nut cut for setting it up as a piccolo bass.
