Even though I do all my own setups and thus can theoretically go with any string, I’d prefer to save a little time and not have to do a complete overhaul.
Any thoughts about a string that has similar specs and tone to the CX-3s?

I haven't tried these on either of my Alembics, but they work well for a couple Gibson basses.

Love my TI's but good golly... I need to plant a money tree in Spring. 🤑

LaBella Rx series nickels have worked well for me on a non-Alembic bass with Alembic electronics (signature package). They’re round wound, but the outer wrap feels quite smooth. Just be sure to measure your string length, because you might need super-long scale for your instrument.
Most recently, I’ve been trying DR Dragon Skin+ Quantum Nickels on a couple of my Alembics, and I really like them so far. The coating takes just a bit of the edge off, which works particularly well for one of my basses.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I have some LaBellas on my Höfner, but that’s obviously a different animal.
I do run Thomastiks on most of my other basses, and do prefer them over D’Addario strings. The price hurts, but I just tell myself that it’s cheaper than new strings for my upright.

Jazz Rounds last at least as long as CXs, but they might require some adjustment. DR Low Riders are probably closer (hex cores).
