We're ready to have some help with testing our new website (https://fa2.alembicguitars.com). Please poke around, check it out, and let me know what you think!
I only have 32 of the Custom Archive articles converted to the new format. Also Custom Archive images are not moved to the new server yet, so that part will be s-l-o-w for another day or so.
Please let me know about errors, broken links, and what works and doesn't work.
Thank you!

Congrats on getting beta!

Looking at mobile is quite nice as well.
-
This is looking really good already! I noticed there is no Epic listed under basses. Just curious, has it been retired from the "standard" lineup?

Sorry to break it to you, but the Epic hasn't been in the standard lineup for quite a while. This is the current website list of basses:
https://www.alembicguitars.com/prod/basses.html (https://www.alembicguitars.com/prod/basses.html)
And I'm not sure, but I think it's been maybe 8 years since we took the Epic off the list. Always available by special order of course.
And glad you think it's looking good!

I'm finally seeing it on a computer (rather than on mobile device). The custom Further is jaw dropping!
I was wondering why a Series I is not listed under "Guitars", and also why Series instruments are not listed under "Favorites"?
Some new faces under "People" :)
The website looks very nice, I'll keep reading through it as well, nice work! :)

Classico isn't listed under basses.

Taking new pictures and will add it soon.

Series I guitar: we haven't made on in over ten years. Every Series guitar is a Series II. In fact, the last Series I guitar we made was converted to a Series II.
The "Favorites" section is more for people that don't know where to start. Sort of like a "Most Popular" section, and I'm sure Series I/II will take a turn on the front page.
New people are fun! Looking to have a couple more new faces here next year.
Thanks for looking! I really appreciate all the feedback.
-
Also glad you liked that Further, Rob. I adore the new version of the body with the omega.
-
Koty looks like the most valuable employee. 🥰
-
Koty!
That is my favorite part of the website, the section for Meet Our Staff.

I was going through the pictures of the Series II basses. Image 13 sure looks like Cocobolo to me not Buckeye Burl as it is labeled. Going back to poke around some more but so far it all looks great!

WOW Mica :) :) :) :)
Still can't get out of the fretboard inlays!!
Lovin it

Thanks for catching that! I've corrected it.
I was just talking to someone on the phone as they were browsing and they got a big surprise when they hit the scroll wheel while looking at one of the bass pages. When you are looking at one of the example images you can really zooooooom in. They yelped with glee over it!

Glad to see the Registration link working again. I just registered Goliath.………. And then it just went Outer Limits! Mica called me! We had a nice chat……. I better not say Beetlejuice three times. :o ;D

Beautiful website, I love the new layout.
Only thing that bothers me is, the stock photo of each model isn't the 'stock' spec, some of them are decked out with many options.
Now, I don't know if that put you guys in vulnable position or not, I am sure people who buys / orders Alembic won't just order one and complain about the difference.
Maybe, * can be added detailing the options on the stock photo?
Just a thought.... Orz

As always, I am experiencing an exemplary level of quality and attention to detail, whilst I glance through the various aspects and pages of this newly updated Alembic website. As this process evolves, I surmise that the representations shall be blossoming with spectacular resonance to entice the viewer's eyes and mind, resulting in endeavours to acquire these elite instruments and enrich the musical experience for the respective musicians and their patron audience.

Holy smokes! I have no concept of time anymore, LOL!

I guess change is inevitable, but I will miss the old site. Will the rest of the Featured Customs from the old archive be added? Woody is bummed!
hehehehe

Yeah, I faced the same issue on the existing website. The problem is that we rarely make a stock version of anything. I have a caption on the existing website with a brief description of the custom options. I think I can put it at least below the specifications table so that it's on the page. Thank you for reminding me.
I'm glad you like the look!

We will have a link to the old website so you can always visit it! I had to change things so it was a more mobile-friendly experience.
And yes, I will be adding almost all of the other previous Featured Customs (some of the oldest the images are just so bad and so few that they are hard to convert). The process is quite time-consuming to get it right, but I will certainly have quite a few more up before I make the site live (targeting Monday for that). Once it's up and running, I'll continue adding more older ones so Woody won't have to wait long. The library of these instruments is invaluable for people exploring their own customs.
There's other Custom Options pages coming too. And as run across other images and we make new things I'll continue to add to the examples.
Thanks again everyone for looking this over and helping me make the website better.

Self-reporting: looks like I need to double check the size of the Crest bass. I had the measurements in red that I hadn't confirmed, and this one is still red.
-
I like the new website too, especially the detailed images. Really nice.
I did notice a couple of things:
- I can’t see the enlarged version of the 13th Stanley Clarke model image. When clicking the individual image or scrolling through the images, that one displays an error message saying, “The image couldn’t be loaded. Please try again later”.
- On the F-2B product page, it looks like text with a possessive apostrophe didn't map correctly from the old page. For example, “Channel A’s” became “Channel A&rsquos”.
As a feature request, I think it would be nice if the some categories under the Products pull-down were links too. So, say with basses, you can click “BASSES” to see sample model images "at a glance” without having to click on each specific model. From there, you could then click a sample model image or link to get to the model-specific page.

That's a great suggestion, Nate. I did have a similar page on the current website with the silhouettes. It's not linked in the menu yet, but the new pages are shaping up like this:
https://fa2.alembicguitars.com/basses.html
https://fa2.alembicguitars.com/guitars.html
I fixed the 13th SC and the right single quote errors on the F-2B page.

Will the Custom Generator reappear, by chance? Maybe with guitars, too? Maybe even with the Element?

Yes, it will reappear, but not right now. The way I made the Custom Quote Generator was extremely hard to update and expand.
-
Way back when I was out of contract and self teaching myself how to develop IOS apps, I used the old quote generator as a learning project.
Downloaded a number of models from the custom gallery, model woods and plating, option prices etc. The idea then was to have templates of each of the body styles, woods and options in a database etc, so the user could pick a body style and preview it with their choices of woods, back & front custom options etc. I even used some of the photos you sent me of Rusty's Blue Orca. 😎
Once i got back in a day job, all that stopped. Ho hum.

Thanks for the enhancements and fixes, Mica! I like seeing the models summarized this way.

I noticed under "Body Shapes" that you only show bass body shapes, no guitars. I'll keep poking around...
-
I haven't had a chance to explore exhaustively, but my initial reaction is: beautiful! I find the graphics and the layout of the pages a joy to look at. And of course, there's all the eye candy in the form of many pictures of instruments.
And everything loads fast! I peeked behind the curtain - it looks like HTML and CSS, and no JavaScript baggage. As elegant and purposeful as Alembic instruments themselves.
-
Looking fantastic! Love the new layout. Thanks for all the hard work that goes into setting up this version.
The dropdowns are sweet.
Will you be adding anything more/extra, (not that it is not good already), to the site?
-
Thanks, Richard. Yes, we are going to be adding more and more. Taking a teeny break for the holidays, but expect the Custom Options section to continue expanding. The Custom Quote generator is slated to return, but in a new format with new features.
-
The Orion link on this page (https://www.alembicguitars.com/basses.html) actually navigates to the Rogue Page (https://www.alembicguitars.com/rogue.html)
-
Thanks! Should be fixed now.
-
Found it, never mind :)

That's looking quite nice!
