Title: Selling My Alembics
Post by: edwardofhuncote on November 03, 2025, 09:44:43 AM

Priorities, like the seasons, change... admittedly I didn't see this day coming.

My Alembics are for sale; prices and shipping are negotiable, but only to a point as I need to net as much as possible. Lesser offers considered for all of them in a bundle, or possibly some form of package deal on two. If you want a nice Alembic in a private sale, here it is. These prices assume shipping included within the continental United States.

See the linked Showcase Threads for pictures of each, and anything you want to know about construction details. I've got quite a bit of history with each one. For anything else more specific not found, please email me using the Club system, and use something I'll recognize in the subject line. I'd much rather we exchange phone numbers and talk in-person about your interest. Please do not use the Club's direct message system... I don't see these messages unless I happen to sign-in, so use the little envelope icon under my username - that'll email me anytime.

I also have an extensive collection of other guitars, basses, and other gear that will be sold over the next few weeks and months. In addition to electrics, these include a vast array of acoustic guitars, mandolins, etc. I've been pretty open about them here, so if you know of something specific you would like or want reserved, let me know and maybe we can work something out. Otherwise, I'll start a separate thread for those items later. Most of them will probably be sold locally as I don't want to deal with a lot a shipping. (and I work for a music store with really good sales staff...)

Finally, I don't particularly want this to devolve into a discussion thread, so please keep the questions private and gear-related.

Thanks, As Always, ~Gregory (Ed of H.)

There is another Series bass I'm waiting to hear the status of. Once I know, it will be priced and sold as well. Ideally I'd rather sell this one and keep my Custom if possible.

Here is the Showcase Thread for Series bass #80-1684

Those are some very fine instruments that you have kept in immaculate condition.  There will be some very happy recipients for sure!

Good luck with your sale, Greg. If I was looking, I would be proud to play one of your instruments. Hoping this is a “voluntary” decision rather than one that is forced because of economic necessity, and selfishly, that you retain at least one of your beauties so that you continue to have an excuse to be as active and informative a member of the club as you have been in the past.

E-mail sent.  After 23 years here, I find this to be the Only place to buy "senior' Alembics.  And a bonus is a seller like you.  We've never met, but you feel like an old friend here.

Three or four years ago, I would have been hot for the Persuader 5, but I changed direction and stuck with 4 strings. Good luck with the sales Greg!

All Messages Replied To. (and Thanks for the interest)

Adding one more to the list here, not an Alembic but kind of a cousin: this is a fretless Hyak, scroll-body bass. I bought it as a playable project. A helpful Club Member soon after offered me the NOS electronics from his Alembicized Hyak to be re-homed in my bass. They've been boxed up in the case with it ever since. (oh yeah... I found a new case for it too...) I never got around to restoring it, and it doesn't seem likely I will. It plays as-is but it could be so much more. Expect to do some work.

$1000, shipped.

Here is the thread. Pictures and details within. https://club.alembicguitars.com/index.php?topic=25569.0 (https://club.alembicguitars.com/index.php?topic=25569.0)

😊 The Hyak is spoken-for. Thanks Michael.

*I'm going to start a different thread in a little bit for some miscellaneous non-Alembic bass guitars. Trying to decide which ones is tougher than I thought. There'll be some amps and preamps, rack mount stuff too on another. I won't bother with cabinets. Too heavy to ship anyway. I'll let the store deal with them.

Series bass #80-1684 is spoken-for once it's issues are sorted out. That being the case, I am rethinking keeping my Custom fretless. The older Series bass #621 and my Persuader 5-string are still available.

The fretless Hyak is boxed up tight, and on its way to the steamy bayou tomorrow morning.

Thanks All. Keep it going. More to come.

Keep your custom fretless if at all possible. Personally, I’d sell just about everything I had on hand before putting that one up.

Updating the thread; the above Alembics are still up. Prices assume shipping included, and are negotiable. I have decided (for now) to keep my Custom fretless.

*Again, please leave me a name in the body, or something in the subject line of emails folks. Clubmail looks really strange anymore. It's hard to tell sometimes what's real.

Adding a picture of each. I can do a little better if someone wants to cover the actual shipping. I should also mention each is in its original hardshell case.

77-621 has a DS-5 power supply and a set of cables, including a 5-pin and a right-angle 1/4" mono. Both basses are gig-ready. (I guess the guitar is too...)

I'll leave adjustment tools and straps/straplocks with them all too. Best I can do short of delivering personally, which isn't impossible provided you're not more than a few hundred miles.

*updated prices and links are back a page now.
