Title: Series II 927541
Post by: tkotmk42 on September 15, 2025, 11:21:20 AM
Mica-san,

Any info would be much appreciated  :)
If there are wires going into neck, that means it has LEDs, right???

Thank you !!!

I can't think of any other reason for wires to be going up the neck. If there are LED's you will need the bass power supply to see them working.
That certainly is a beautiful bass that looks like the thickest contrasting body laminate i've seem. All the best if you decide to buy it.

Thank you!   Yes, I had the shop confirm with me that it does indeed have the side LEDs working when power supply was connected.
Yes, I did pull the trigger (actually, I did as soon as it was posted) sight unseen, but I have dealt with this shop in the past (got SC sig from them in the past, along with 1 Status) and has been very good.

I won't see it till Nov, it will remain in Japan at my folks place.

Anyways, any build records would be very nice.   And yes, it has the thick body, the electronics are all housed in one cavity, like the early ones are.  (this one only has 2 cavities, one for battery in the middle, and one for all electronics, with holes for the adjustments)

What do ya'll think the top/back wood is?  My guess is cocobolo.

Way to go sir. That bass is marvelous. Do you have any more photos. My guess would be the top is Indian rosewood, based on this bass from the site.

Takeo,
Glad you are the new owner.  Absolutely lovely looking bass, and we all know it sounds as good as it looks.

Quick update:  I have this bass now here in Nashville:  I learned my lesson from last time I traveled from Japan to Nashville: I packed it very well.

I put some bubble wrap inside the case so the bass won't move inside the case, then I wrapped the case with at least 5 layers of bubble wraps, added more air-filled larger cushions at the both ends of the case, put it inside the cardboard box, and then taped it really good.

It didn't get any damage:  flight was from Haneda, Chicago, and then to Nashville.

Anyways, this is my first Series II bass, I had to adjust the gain/hum a bit to minimize the noise coming from the bridge pickup, but so far, so good.

Any build info would be much appreciated :)

Love the bookmatched headstock  :)

This one has rather thicker headstock laminate: the top 'bookmatched' part has the thickness of 3 layers worth of wood:  I don't remember seeing that on any other bass. (I don't remember seeing that on my other bookmatched headstock bass, or I could just be not remembering/noticing).

So many variations on Alembics, so much fun  ;D
