Hi,

I've just purchased a beautiful Koa top Stanley Clarke model but notice that the letters RR in the serial number don't relate to SC models.

Also, it has the 'dummy 3rd pickup' and pickup selector switch on the lower horn.

I'm wondering what pickups and electronics are fitted and why the unusual serial number.

Could you give me as much detail as possible on this bass please?

Kindest Regards,

Andy

Hey Andy,

Welcome to the club and congrats on your purchase.  I recently saw a post by Mica (whose family IS Alembic) explaining that "RR" in the serial number referred to a "retro" style SC signature build made for their Japanese distributors.  Based on that my guess is that you have "20th Anniversary" electronics as described here:

Nice looking axe!

Welcome Andy, yes indeed that one's sweet. Here's the thread Jimmy's referring to where we discussed that unusual bass. (Mica's comment within, confirming the model) https://club.alembicguitars.com/index.php?topic=29293.0
