Title: F!-105 installed into a custom build
Post by: jazzyvee on September 09, 2025, 02:45:57 PM

I wonder how long it will be before someone's dream instrument will have a request for an FL-105 to be installed instead of the standard filter circuits for EQ. I also reckon fitting one or two into a Starfire bass especially if running it from the DS-5 to deal with battery drain, would be a nice upgrade.

I can picture a three pickup Europa shape or Jazz bass shape with a fat boy in the bridge position and Jazz bass activators at the neck position and mid-position. The FL -105 would be integral in the electronics cavity. Within my thoughts, a potential custom this could be ! I can hear the potential lower mid-range growl that I crave in such a daydream.

Is my memory deceiving me, or do I remember seeing at least one or two basses with built-in Superfilters?

I've got one channel of what's mostly a superfilter - switchable hi, band, low, and notch filter with CVQ - on my 77 custom (doesn't have the blend control). The other channel is the "traditional" eq with qvc. Also a lot of switches that let me put the filters in series or parallel. No idea how they crammed all that stuff in the small body of my long scale bass, but I'm so glad they did.
