The band that I am in currently with Alex Muhanoff on Guitar and Jim Maxwell on Drums will be playing at the Brentwood Emporium in Brentwood CA ( the Farming Brentwood, not the Hollywood Mansions Brentwood) on September 6th. The show starts at 8 pm and we will be playing original music. My MK Deluxe will be my main bass for the evening.

This looks like the place:

That would be the place Dave. Might be a bit far from you, but might be a fun outing! ;D
-
Yeah, a bit of a drive from here. Enjoy!

I guess me and Dave could carpool... still a pretty good hike from here. ;D
You still have workmares about the the Water Treatment Plant, Ken? How much longer before I can tune those out...? I still wake up nights thinking about turbidity spikes. This morning my former trainees copied me on their group chat about the troubles from last night's flash floods here. And the weird thing was... I sorta' already knew.

That's experience👍🏾.

Actually Greg, I've pretty much put that work thing out of my mind. I was in the office in the Engineering Dept doing GIS and plan review. I find myself still running out of time at the end of the day asking " How did I have time to work?"

Here's some photos from out show on Saturday. Got some major compliments on my tone from both the soundman and the bass player in the other band.
-
Lookin' sharp Ken! Singin' and playin' bass too. 😎
*ironically, my very first job in a Utility Dept. was spent establishing an AutoCAD workstation to draw maps of the water and wastewater distribution systems for a small town I worked for. GIS (at least as we know it now) did not yet exist. But I could read and understand drawings. It got me out of the Street Dept. Sign Shop gig. 😄

Great photos, love the shirt too! :)

What's not obvious in the picture, I'm also playing keyboard with my feet...( foot pedal controller connected to the KRONOS)

When I retired, I distanced myself from everyone in my industry. 10 years later, I began reconnecting with old classmates / coworkers. While we shared some incredibly funny remembrances, I also had some PTSD moments….riding out Typhoons, Hurricanes and even a shipboard fire that burned for days. One instance where a fellow engineer grabbed a set of fan belts to stop them and cut off all his fingers! Once we bagged up all his fingers and sent him off on a seagoing tug to Dutch Harbor, AK, the fan belts still needed to be changed…..I did it myself…..without grabbing the belts while the crew painted over the blood splattered bulkhead in the fan room……that was the kind of job I had……I was a marine engineer on seagoing container ships… I’ve been retired 20 years now…..and those nightmares still come to me.

Watched Rick Beato's interview with Les Claypool last night, and at one point they were talking about Geddy Lee singing, playing bass, keyboards, and pedals all at the same time.
-
Geddy was definitely one of my influences early on. My vocal ability is questionable at best, but we can't seem to find a singer willing to work with our material, so Alex and I make do with what we can put out there until we can find someone.

Very cool! I've done the bass/vox/keys/pedals thing for years as well. It's a lot of work, but can really fill things out sonically.
