Title: Short scale strings again
Post by: hankster on August 07, 2025, 09:22:44 PM
Sorry to raise this topic from the dead. What are people doing for strings on their shorts these days? Alembic are out of stock.

DR hi beams. My Stanley BB needs the brighter strings.

Medium Scale Dunlop Super brights 40 -100 Stainless steel,
D'addario pro-steel 45- 105 Medium scale.

I'd also be interested in what stainless steel strings to use for tenor tuning on a short scale.

Thanks. Love this forum. Danno, would the DRs be short or medium scale?

I hate to muddy the waters, but I used regular long scale DRs on my 5-string Stanley Clarke. But maybe the measurements were custom? The distance between the tailpiece & bridge was key. I did have problems finding a suitable low B - but the short scale Alembic set fixed that!
