What’s up with this pickup? It’s AXY size but isn’t the resistance quite strange

Hello Marko,
It looks that is an SC-1 pickup, which is the single coil unit used in Series I & II instruments. It’s the same shell size as the hum-cancelling AXY. I checked one of mine (from a 1987 Series II bass), and it measured 3.49k ohms.

Ok, so Series it is. Is there any way to make it work in single pickup bass? Maybe the dummy coil could be placed inside control cavity? I’m Alembicising my Aria Pro 2 SB-R60 and there is room in the rerouted control cavity.

I don't think what you're describing can be executed without some more parts. Similar scenario at Post #7, answer from Mica at Post #12-
