Title: My first Alembic (this time for real!)
Post by: matbard on May 08, 2025, 03:03:13 PM
Well,
After having searched for a proper Series bass since I graduated, I pulled the trigger on a present for my 50th birthday and I'm finally in possession of this beauty:

Alembic Series 1 MSB 1980, serial number 80 1694 USA

She needs some little cleaning, however it's a dream come true!

Congratulations!   That’s a beautiful bass.

Congrats!  I ordered my Custom Further, "Woody", as my 50th birthday present to myself.  That was twenty years ago and I haven't regretted it for a minute since.  So happy birthday and may you enjoy playing it for may years to come.

I would love a bass with top wood like that, this one ticks all my buttons, and I bet it sounds great, too. Congratulations and Happy Birthday!

Thank you for the warm words.

I have been obsessed by Alembics since my younger years, from the exact moment when I read on a local guitar magazine that "the revolution started during the '70s with the American basses of the Alembic brand" (I remember the exact words). I've been dreaming about owning one since then. I owned many other Alembic things: a couple of F-1X, an IN-2 and the Blaster I installed in my Strat, but this is my very first bass. I was lucky enough to find a pristine specimen, complete with power supply (original blue box) and fully functional. She only needs some good cleaning and fresh strings.
