Interesting double neck Alembic style guitar. I know nothing more.

I have a similar Alembic-influenced Cort double-neck. Paid about 1/6th the asking price on this Kawai about four years ago.

I was thinking about it the other day, doubleneck guitars are such a niche' thing... there just can't be but so many of them, regardless of what the double is, guitar/guitar, guitar/bass, I've even seen a guitar/mandolin doubleneck. You just gotta' want a thing like that I guess.
Has anybody got an educated guess how many doublenecks Alembic has created? Maybe a couple dozen? I can think of about six right off, but every single one is at least half bass. I can't think of any that are guitar/guitar configuration. Like 12/6. There must be one somewhere.

I have a liking for double necks for some reason. With a looper pedal you can do some cool stuff and cover a lot of ground. Of course, they are heavy.

I’ve got 4. 4 + 6 Alembic. 4 + 6 Waterstone (prototype) 4 + 6 Steinberger Spirit & a 6 + 12 OLP Musi man clone. They just happened to present themselves to me over the last 30 years or so. I’m a big-framed guy so the weight / size doesn’t bother me.

I gotta ask - when you say 4 + 6 (as in the case of your Alembic) is it 4 string on top + 6 string on bottom? My '75 doubleneck is 6-string bass on top + fretless 4 string on bottom - I guess I'd call it 6+4? Mine is DEFINITELY heavy and uncomfortable - but who's perfect?
-
Yes Harry, the 4-string bass is on the top and the 6-string guitar is on the bottom. I can't seem to post pictures anymore....my iPhone 11 won't let me resize the photos to fit this websites requirements.
This Alembic is 17.2 pounds. I have a stand that holds it in playing position and it's a pretty comfortable fit. The stand is $350.00 and it is stout! (German made)

The limit is simply 1,000 kB in file size (slightly *less* than 1 MB, which is 1,024 kB).

Gary, I don't know if (or how) it works on an iPhone but I have found that texting pictures to myself, then downloading them to a different folder (other than the camera pictures file) resizes them well below the forum limit.
Sorry 'bout the hijack... carry on.

Thank you for posting that! Such a cool instrument.
And that stand?!! I have been wanting something like that for my doubleneck for a long time - I love playing the 6-string neck standing with it on a strap, but would love to also play the fretless standing, in which case I would love a stand like this.

Also thanks for clarifying the nomenclature - that makes mine a 6 + 4!

Here’s the stand. Full Compass. I believe it was around $350.

I have to chime in and say that the fretless half of Harry's bass is one of the nicest fretlesses I've ever played. It's a gem!
