well we've been alcolhol-free at CastleBeenDown for about 18 years now, but we're still gonna ring in hte new year with a vape chamber fulla cheep hi-grade weed from the local dispensary and a dip in hte hot tub whilst watching for strange phenomena in the sky above.
come to think of it, that's how we ring in every new day. gettin ready to do it as we speak. happy new years, folks!
i don't normally make new years resolutions but this year i'll make an exception and so i hereby resolve to take the ebony amazon with me to a gig and blow everybody's doors off.

I got tickets for the same show. 😉
At the risk being a party pooper: for us the Winter Solstice holds more celebratory emotions than buying a new calendar. But at least I have tomorrow off of work…

Unfortunately, the fireworks at midnight wake me up and I can’t get back to sleep! That’s ok tho……. I go to bed at 6:30 so I got a good 5 1/2 hours of sleep in….add that to the afternoon nap and I’m all good! ;D

We renew our New Years' couch potato tickets every year, this one included. A few years back we were talked into going to see Trombone Shorty at Masonic Hall. We took BART and navigating our way back to a packed and slightly dysfunctional train was not pleasant. The people staggering through the streets, including a few getting sick, made it feel like we were in a disaster movie and we vowed never again.
Happy New Years to everyone... see you on the other side.

There was a time that I'd have laughed in your face if you told me I'd ever say this - but, I'm so glad I don't have a gig tonight!
Peter (who is typing quietly, as it is 20:30 CST, and She sound asleep in the other room, and who does not miss working Amateur Drunk Night whatsomeever!)

A Happy New Year to all of you; and thank you for another wonderful year here at the club!

Happy New Year folks. We had a pretty good ending to 2024 our nonverbal autistic grandson is starting to use words and gestures to communicate. It is only single words but after years of nothing it's a pretty major milestone.
I envy you Mica, no one gave me one of those tickets for Christmas. You don't get much time to do nothing with a 4 year old in the house, who is currently dancing around to Snarky Puppy, and mom working. I'm not complaining the trade off is worth it as Alisa was finally able get out of retail after securing a position at the main UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. It's the first time in a long time she is enjoying work.

Happy New year 2025, i hope you all have a great time.

I tried to stay up for a while. I couldn't come up with a reason to though. The younger band members were having a get-together for the evening, but I didn't want to be out on the roads that late, or be the fifth wheel at a Gen-Z party, so I stayed in and played guitar until I got tired, and went to bed. Around 10pm I think... that's late for me.
Given the choice, I'd rather have had a NYE gig last night... I guess it's good that I still want to. FWIW, the very first time I ever got paid for playing bass was a New Year's Eve party down in Franklin County... $34 was my cut of the $100 we got paid. (I got the extra $1 for some reason...) 35 years ago last night. I'd like to know for fun how many parties I've played down in Franklin County since that night?
Oh well... 2025 is here. Let's get on with the show.
