Title: Zakir Hussain has passed
Post by: edwardofhuncote on December 17, 2024, 03:07:34 AM
Just happened to catch this story...

I was only aware of his talents through that of Bela Fleck and a few posts here. Thought I should pass it along. Pulmonary Fibrosis is a terrible, terrible thing.

When i was on tour in Slovenia in 2007, his picture was painted on the wall of a building, alongside Miles & John Coltrane and some other music legends. Sadly i never saw him live but on tv concerts many times and i adore the sound of the tabla.

R.I.P.

Thank you for posting this.  I've watched him in many videos over the years; he was amazing.

Saw him & Cipollina sit in with the Dead at Alpine Valley in '82.  A wonderful player!
