Not too much about Rick here, but I remembered this old thread that mentioned he had at least a couple Alembic-equipped basses.

Thanks for posting this, Philip.   A most enjoyable read for someone like me that counts the Band amongst my all-time favorites.  I had tickets to see them, at the Keystone, Berkeley IIRC, when the show was cancelled right after Danko’s bust in Japan.   And I saw them open for the Dead on Jerry’s 31st birthday at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, 8/1/73.  Twelve days later, I moved to California!

Allow me to add my thanks, Phillip.  As one with a fondness for bands that prioritize the music over the spectacle, I place The Band on the same pedestal as the dead, the Allmans, and Quicksilver.

And I must ask:  "....accompanied by his longtime pianist and accordionist Aaron Hurwitz."  Kin, Edwin?
