This video explains how I reduced the weight of my 2008 SCSD CocoBolo bass from 10 and a half lbs to 9 lbs 1 ounce. In the video, I incorrectly said the bass weight 11 1/2 lbs. With batteries it weighed 11 lbs. At 64 with disk issues in my back, the weight reduction allows me to play gigs with less pain. The three changes I made were done after consulting with Mica at Alembic who recommended lighter tuners, (the Gotoh direct replacements saved a 1/4 loud), shielded carbon fiber back plates which I made (took off 10 ounces), and replacing the brass blocks under the brass bridge with wooden blocks which Alembic made for me - that saved 7 ounces. Getting older has its price! All parts used are direct replacements so the original parts can be swapped if desired.
