Martin Mull has passed at 80. Most know him as a comedian and the star of "Fernwood Tonight". He was also an accomplished musician. I saw Tom Waits open for Mull around 1975 at the Troubadour in L.A. He was billed as "Martin Mull and His Fabulous Furniture". The stage was set with an easy chair, a rug, and some other living room type accoutrements as I recall. At one point Mull pulled out a vibrator and started playing slide guitar with it. He then turned the vibrator on, started playing "Purple Haze", then looked up and said "so that's how Jimi did it!"

The guy who dubbed me "The Cozmik Cowboy" back in '74 or '75 regularly did "Normal" at coffee houses.
When our βetamax® was new, we rented Mull's The History Of White People In America and America 2-Night; the man was a genius!
We shall not see his like again. And now his watch has ended.
