For the $8,500 asking price of this instrument I would certainly choose to purchase an actual 100% Alembic,and I actually have done so ; with Series I/II electronics .Just my opinion . 8)

Must be a shop-night / employee bass, dontcha think?
I can see what the truss rod cover says, but all the components look (too) Alembic-sourced.
No affiliation, just thought it's an interesting example, and the seller story might be incomplete.

Haven't we seen this one before? I seem to remember the Omega-cut body, and the 5-string headstock with holes placed not really where I'd want them.

The name has popped up before. It has a trussrod cover at the headstock.
