Bass on reverb in Japan where they seem to think the pickups and electrics are 'made by Alembic'.
What do you think?

It's been listed for quite a while.

I'm pretty sure I've run across this one before. Looks like a cool little bass for the money. Those LOOK like old Alembic pickups. Like to see pics of the control cavity and bottom of the pickups.

I posted on it a couple years back... https://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=27368.msg278199#msg278199 (https://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=27368.msg278199#msg278199)
The same suppositions exist. If they are indeed AXY's, they must be an early set or retrofitted. Also mounted incorrectly. Doubtful they are Series pickups because of the inherent problems that would exist without the accompanying electronics. But hey, who knows?
It's a pretty cool bass and a quality build. Probably sounds great. It kinda' looks like something up Dela217's alley with that zebrawood and those symmetrical horns. ;D

We've talked about this one a couple times... it's still hanging out there. The Reverb algorithm decided to let me know the price went down again. Other than the hassles of getting it aver here, $1300 seems like pretty fair for that instrument. I'd still like to know about those pickups. A peek under the hood would probably answer the rest, but with the recent revelation that there are AXY-shaped Bartolini pickups... well, you wonder if this might be a pair of them? The 1978 timeframe is about right.

The Electronics in this bass are PASSIVE ! Nothing Alembic about them ! A while back I asked for photos of the opened control cavity of this instrument which the seller supplied. If I can find them I shall post them here as well. As well I advised the seller to change the description and show the photo of the opened control cavity in his posting for the public to see, which he has NOT done ! Caveat Emptor; ( let the buyer beware ). The pickups could likely be Bartolini Passive .

Here is a link to my conversation with the seller with a photo of the control cavity . You can see it is PASSIVE ! The REVERB page did not allow me to drag off the photo .

Thanks for the confirmation, Wolf. ;)

So, fire-sale on this Jim Beach bass now. No Alembic content, but that's a great looking bass for $621. You can't hardly even buy the parts and wood to build one for that.
I swear, if I had any need in this world for another bass project...

well somebody jumped on it. good luck to all!

Yeah, good... that was starting to get me all twitchy. I got stuff to do! ;D
Anybody here wanna' 'fess up? :D
