Title: Introduction with two Alembic fivers
Post by: rust_preacher on May 20, 2024, 06:11:51 AM
Hello!

As I posted my first serial query for the Epic I bought in April, I immediately got a message from an Alembic Club member I have known before on TalkBass. This was a nice welcome, maybe there are others from TalkBass, especially from the Mediocre Club where I posted frequently?

I have been mostly a covers rock player until now, and always only had "Fender family" style basses (meaning, with some lineage to Leo Fender and George Fullerton). I found the Epic for a very nice price near Helsinki and collected it in person in late April. I pretty much immediately was converted to a 5-string player! My son-in-law is a very good keys player and I have now practiced some "lounge jazz" style songs to play with him as a duo.

Now, what's with the other Alembic? I realized these basses don't grow on trees and the only one I found for a reasonable price here within Europe was a flamed maple Essence in Station Music in Germany. We got a deal and I received that one today. great tone, great bass! It plays even better than the Epic. I may venture to lower the Epic's action even a bit more since the Essence plays so well.

Pictures are at the respective Showcase sections.

I think the Alembic Club is a collection of people with a great alignment toward qulity instruments. Thanks for having me.
