WOW! It's one of those rare microphone pre-amps! All the other ones I've seen are instrument pre-amps. Guitar Center always has the best stuff!

So does $1k seem to be a reasonable price based upon the condition as pictured?

I would opine that $1K is not unreasonable. If you are patient, you should be able to grab one in the $700-$900 range in under six months. Older ones are every bit as reliable as more recent units. Alembic’s design and execution are solid. If there is a problem, Alembic and/or forum members will walk you through any repairs. Have you compared the F-1X to Alembic’s other preamp, the F-2B? If not, you might want to check it out. Each has their advantages. They sell for about the same and are similarly available.

I kinda prefer the tone of the F-2B myself, at least for recording.
