Title: It's only right
Post by: cozmik_cowboy on February 14, 2024, 12:05:31 PM
From the latest "Grateful Dead Bulletin" e-mail:

"Well, I'll be! The Grateful Dead have officially broken the record for Most Top 40 Albums on the Billboard 200, surpassing Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. And when you get right down to it, it's all thanks to YOU, the fans. The album that pushed the Dead on out ahead? DAVE'S PICKS, VOLUME 49: FROST AMPHITHEATRE, STANFORD U., PALO ALTO, CA (4/27/85 & 4/28/85)."

It never occurred to me that a Dave's Picks album could make the Billboard 200.

I suspect most people just don't buy albums anymore.  Us old Deadheads are an anachronistic remnant.

I buy (download, not physical) albums; mostly from BandCamp, some from Qobuz.  But yes, you're probably right; streaming has significantly changed the way people access music.
