Hi everybody,
I got this great sounding instrument ca. 1992 and would be stoked to learn more about it and its current value. Since I am a guitar player and not a bassist, it sat mainly in its case since then. Now we are emigrating and I'd love to sell it to somebody that is actually playing and appreciating it.
The overall condition is superb...it only had some neck fracture being repaired before I got it. Comes incl. case and papers.
Please feel free to reach out.

Here are the documents and the damage. Does not affect tone or playability at all...

It's interesting; the build sheet reflects P-JZ-AE1 for electronics... I would have taken that to mean that it came with a P and JZ shaped set of activators. Clearly those are AXY's, and smooshed (my Mom swears it's a real word) up against the bridge. I bet that thing is a monster of a bass... like a Ray with an attitude. Sure wish it was close to me. Perhaps you can emigrate to the mountains of Virginia? :)

Very interesting. Look like a predecessor to the "Vector" body style. Yeah I thought the same Greg when I read the build sheet. Beautiful instrument and I'm sure it sounds amazing!

Hi,
I was a little unsure of the mix, too. Did not see too many Zebrawood tops, apart from that. If this was indeed one of the comparably cheaper Persuaders - was it still possible to customize those?

Cool bass. It almost looks like it began life with a single pickup, then someone added the one by the bridge. And yeah, that electronics description on the wood card is a mystery.
-
Here is what we found in the instrument file:
top: Zebrawood
body: Mahogany
neck: Maple
scale: 32" medium
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: pearloid (plastic) ovals
pickups: AXY
originally sold to: not recorded
birthday: September 25, 1986
So the official record is correct on the pickup shape, just a human error on the documentation.

Hi,
I am a bit estranged now: Birthdate 1980??? Or is that just a typo and it is instead 1986, as stated in the document?
-
No no just another mistake. Looks like this bass attracts them.
-
I think you should take it as a sign, and keep that one. One of the sweetest Alembics I ever had care of had a cute little typo in the build sheet.
-
It was't an error in the build sheet of stamped serial number, just Mica's typo in the above post (which she has now fixed) - :D
DOB Sept.25.1986

How would you rate the current value of that instrument? Just roughly.
-
I would look around and see what other Persuader basses have sold for. I don't keep up with that model so I couldn't estimate a sale price.
Quick reverb check and looks like 2600-3600 on that site. https://reverb.com/marketplace?query=Alembic%20Persuader%20&show_only_sold=true

you know when you try to throw away a rolled up ball of paper. and you keep missing the trash can?
Yeah, it's 1986. Nineteen eighty-six. Sheesh! ::)

Thanks. Well, I just want somebody to appreciate and play it rather than haveit ssitting there in the case and waiting.
Thanks for the insights,
Patrick

I sent an email though the club. Check your spam folder if you haven't gotten it. Thank you!
