Title: FB-2 Maybe not this thread but question.
Post by: DistillaMatto on December 01, 2023, 06:43:59 PM
I just bought this used FB-2 from a music store here in Tokyo. Can I run both channels with 2 different instruments at the same time?

Are you trying to run a different instrument into each channel, or are you trying to run two instruments through both channels simultaneously?   Are you pairing it with a stereo power amp?

I wondered if I could play bass into one channel and the guitarist could use the other channel at the same time? Of course going into different amps.

I tried it out separately with a Fender Jazz bass and a cheap Greco PRS knockoff at the store. It made the PRS knockoff guitar sound amazing.

You've already figured it out but yeah, as long as you are using the two individual outputs on the back it should work like 2 single-channel preamps.  I suppose there could be some "crosstalk" between the two channels because the signals are running through the same chassis and physically close to each other in there.  But that should be negligible.  Also potential ground issues running out to various amps...  Let us know how it goes.

If you will be using a stereo power amp (or two mono power amps), with each channel going into its own speaker, you should be good.

I have successfully run bass through one channel and Moog (bass) synth through both channels while recording - works great!

David Gilmour of Pink Floyd is famous for using them (modified I think?). I have a friend with a studio who is really into David Gilmour - I used to record at his studio a fair amount - once he overdubbed a variety of guitar parts, all thru the F-2B.

Have fun!

Thank you. I am amazed at what it did to a cheap guitars sound.

I have an F2B and a F1X set up in my signal chain for recording at all times.  Sounds great on bass, Fender Rhodes, etc.

We used it tonight in practice. It worked great with both of us plugged in. Thanks for all the responses.
