My BB, that I bought new in Feb 2020, recently developed a loud hiss. Turning down the filter has no effect, but turning down the volume does. The battery is good. Not sure if there's anything else I can do. The bass should still be under warranty.
How do I initiate a warranty claim? Also, I'm (relatively) local in San Francisco, can drop the bass off in person.

George,
Try exercising the pots. Rotate the volume knob fully back and forth at least 50 times and see if that helps.
They are self cleaning and exercising them can often cure undesirable noise.
Wouldn’t hurt to do that with all the knobs if the bass hasn’t been played in awhile or if it has been in ‘dirty’ environments.
Let us know how that works.

I tried the pot-rotating approach, to no effect.

Just to check the easy stuff first, have you tried the bass with a different amp? A different cable?

I'm going direct into an audio interface, not an amp. And yes, I tried a different cable, same result. Also, I have another Alembic bass which is dead silent regardless of cable. So it's definitely the Brown Bass at issue here.

Have tried the bass into a different input? Anything other than your audio interface? I had an Alembic guitar that just wouldn’t get along with my Mesa amp. The guitar was fine into anything else, and the Mesa was fine with any other guitar.
