Title: Sending Good Vibes to Our Friends in SoCal
Post by: lbpesq on August 19, 2023, 11:49:48 AM
Looks like they are battening down the hatches and preparing for the worst in Southern California where they are about to get hit by the first hurricane to strike SoCal since 1936.   Here’s hoping it all dissipates before landfall.   And there are still people who think climate change is a fallacy!

I've seen comments that a major concern for the area, in addition to the regular dangers of tropical storms and hurricanes, will be mud slides.

And yes, hoping it dissipates as much as possible, and quickly.

Catalina Island has been evacuated as a precaution, most of the focus has been on the inland areas that will flood or experience mudslides. Hoping it isn't as bad as expected and there is no loss of life. The ongoing series of climate related emergencies is getting tedious and we are barely into hurricane season.

I'm texting back-n-forth with Her Royal Highness (the Duchess of Derbyshire) down in Sudden California, regarding the weather of all things... so far, not much reportable just south of LA. There was mention of a very short temper over my smart mouth...

Get 10 cases of bottled water, I said. And 100 foil packs of ranch dressing. They freakin' keep for years in them packs, and you can put ranch dressing on almost anything. If the power goes out, the water don't run, at least not for long. Think like a Troutville Farmgirl again, says I. Sometimes 3500 miles is a safe distance.

Just saw a map of the projected path; by Monday night they're predicting a hurricane in the middle of Nevada!
