The guitar version came today. It's electronics are in better shape than the bass which has a bit of noise when turning the tone pot. The guitar even came with the original case.

Nice matching set. The pots are self-cleaning so the noise in the filter control might be resolved by rotating it in both directions 20 - 50 times.

Very nice.

Thank you. I'll try that.

I tried this but the bass still crackles while sweeping. Drat. I'm really enjoying the guitar.

I have no experience with these Distillates with front-mounted controls, but one thing you might also try, make sure that the pot is secure to the sheilding. Again, no idea how these are shielded... my '81 was not an export model.
Love your matching pair sensibilities - I do that too! 8)

If those controls were parked for a long time, it's possible they are beyond self-cleaning. You might have to replace the offending pot(s).

Thank you. I'll check into it. The store I bought the bass from tried their best to get rid of the crackle before selling it and couldn't. It's okay if I don't sweep quickly.

The one pickup's last gig with me. It was sacrificed to get the newer Distillate. I kind of miss the tone but am happy with the new one.

Always love a big ending!. Nice tone, spending time with the new one will reveal even betterer tones. 😀
