Title: Essence Pick-up Volume
Post by: Frank Orlando (frank_orlando) on August 02, 2002, 10:05:37 PM
Being my first Alembic I don't know what to expect as far as pick-up volume. Prior active basses I have owned were very loud and required I use the 15db cut button on my SVT3Pro or it was too hot and I got speaker distortion. The Essence doesn't require the 15db cut. It sounds about as loud as my passive Ampeg AMB1 with SeymoreDuncan BassLine pickups...maybe even a bit lower. The tone is excellent but I expected significant pick-up power..at least more than my passive bass. Yes...I put in a fresh battery. Is this normal? Thanks! Frank

There is a small screwdriver adjustable trimpot located on the filter control inside the electronics cavity that determines the overall gain of the bass. We usually set it about in the middle, but you're more than welcome to turn it up to suit your needs.
