Can we buy a new head stock logo? There were some basses are sold without the logo, so its nice to know if we can order one from Alembic. What would the prices be? I know there are so many types. I know you probably have spikes on the back to push into the head stock.
-
Well, i forgot Alembic has them, but i c ant find the price. I'll keep looking.
-
If you need a logo, you will have to take or send the bass back to alembic factory to get it fitted there. One reason they don't send them out is the risk of people putting them on non alembic basses and affecting their brand reputation.
-
The only basses that didn't have a hand cut or jeweler's cast logo were the original run of Spoilers. And they _did_ have a logo decal.
Vince is correct. Logos can only be installed here at the factory, or by a handful of trusted souls.
-
i don't need one,but it's just interesting to learn more policies. It crossed my mind that the logos are not sent by mail.
-
Nor, from what I understand are they allowed on Shop Night Specials. I have a beautiful Series I love that is ALL Alembic but since it did not officially come from the company, it does not have a logo.I do have an Alembic logo in silver that seems authentic which was given to me by the spouse of an Alembic player who passed away in an accident about a decade ago when I purchased his SC standard. It has no prongs on the back and came on a chain so I’ve always assumed it was made as a piece of jewelry. I have no idea as to the provenance.

For a time, Alembic had a logo pendant. I bet it was one of them, Brian.
-
Yes, we sold pendants for a while but stopped when they started popping up on fakes as logos. They were made from the same master.
Shop Night instruments are not usually given a logo, but there are some exceptions.
-
MICA, what would you tell musician if you noticed
his bass has a logo on his non Alembic?
-
Here is a note posed by global moderator. David Houck on that subject.

I'm not sure, I suppose it depends. Likely I would ask them where it was obtained, and make an invitation to remove it to correct the situation.
-
I'm in just the opposite situation. My #1 bass is one of the first fifty Spoilers, with bare koa where the decals used to be. I've been curious about the possibility of sending it back to the Mothership to have a replica of the original decal logo done as an inlay. I'm not sure whether that's been done before or even could be done without having a cast logo over it, but I'd love to get the headstock back close to its original appearance.

No, We haven't done a replica of the decal in inlay, but I think that's a cool idea. Would be pricey but a cool double-take!

Hi Mica,
Is there any way to find out how pricey?

I keep thinking about the lack of a logo, plus 40 years' worth of fretless string wear across the serial number. At some point all proof of origin will be gone!
-
Well write that serial number in the electronics cavity with a sharpie before it's all worn away! I'll work up an estimate for the inlay and send you a quote.

Thank you!
