Title: Hello! Pickups questions...
Post by: Armando Pugliese (omega_heart81) on August 09, 2002, 05:40:28 PM
Hello there! I wanted to send my greetings to all the Alembic devotees... I really miss the older Yahoo Group! :-)
However I have some pickups questions for you... after reading LOTS of things here and there, I wanted to know: your pickups and electronics are made to have a unique sound OR they are made to deliver the real acoustic sound of the bass? I'm really really curious. Thanx a lot!

The pickups are not voiced. They are linear, wide bandwidth and low distortion. The intent is to hear exactly what the string is doing.

The low pass filter tone control on most of our basses is the electronic equivalent to a vibrating acoustic soundboard.

I suppose the underlying philosophy is this: keep everything clean and clear and let's hear what each instrument truly sounds like.

Well, thanx a lot for the reply! I think that there are lots of strange things on the net about your pickups... there's a lot of peoples that doesn't know what you said... and this is the reason for which I did ask :-)
