How many of you Alembic players are "Bass Soloist?"
Of course, Stanley Clarke is the most popular Alembic Icon Soloist, inspiring me to focus on nice licks and riffs. I solo more with a guitar player approach. I'm sure some bass soloist frown on that. What is an ACTUAL/Traditional bass solo style? I've heard them by many bassists, but I never really cared to use those voicings. I guess I "Play guitar on bass" Ha Ha. AND who are the actual famous bass soloist who play like a lead guitarist? What is your style?

John Entwistle :)

The Ox did proclaim he was a Bass GUITARIST. 😎
How would we describe someone like Chris Squire?
Personally I have changed over the years. Back in the days of Dexter Bracket there was an extended ‘bass solo’ written into our set list. These days, play to support the song. General formula is to keep it simple, provide space early, give the vocalist room and then add more if the song crescendos… bring that dynamic tension kinda thing. So maybe the last couple bars I am cutting loose! 😃
