My DS5R was acting strange with my Series 1. Using the 5 pin cable, and everything connected correctly into two amplifiers, when I would move the switch on the DS5R from Mono to Stereo, depending on which pickup or combination of pickups that I would select, one position on the DS5R mono/stereo switch would result in no sound.
I found this very thorough thread: http://alembic.com/club/messages/394/76803.html?1267928118 , in which I believe they determined that the gentleman had a bad mono/stereo switch, it got me thinking...
My thought was that the switch may be oxidized... so I got out the trusty DeOxit with the needle tip, put the tip in to the front of the mono/stereo switch and applied a bit.
Then, I excercised the switch up and down about 10 times and now it all works perfectly.
So, in "stereo" mode, when I select the neck pickup, I only hear the neck pickup, when I select both pickups, I hear both, and when I select the bridge pickup, I hear only that.
It doesn't matter to the (above) problem, but in case you were wondering my setup is:
Series 1 bass --> DS5R (via 5 pin cable)
DS5R (bass output) --> F1-X (#1) --> amplifier Channel A --> 2 x 15" cabinet (Mesa Boogie Subway)
DS5R (treble output) --> F1-X (#2) --> amplifier Channel B --> 1 x 12" cabinet (Mesa Boogie Subway)
So, only one DS5R. I'm using an effects loop with the F1-X (#2), and leaving the F1-X (#1) clean, it is the best of both worlds.
