I believe some of you are looking for one of these.

Noticed this one. Anyone know the history? Non original pickups so curious if RF retro was done. Thanks…

Same bass that was up for sale recently on here. I got an F2B from the seller recently, and he is good to work with.

Seems like it was sold a month ago and then immediately up for sale again. Any idea why or is the original owner here? Seems like a repair job on back of headstalk. It’s very close to what I am looking for but gut not comfortable yet.
Thanks…

I owned it at one time. When I had it, it did not have the electronics upgrade and the neck was fine.

But the pickups seem newer than the bass's age. Pretty sure they weren't engraved in '76. Makes me wonder if maybe it has had the upgrade...? Nice looking bass!

Looking at the board from the reverb posting I don’t see indicators of an upgrade

Oops, I didn't scroll far enough through the pictures. :-[ I agree, no evidence of any added-on upgrade components. It's also the original board with the flat-pack opamps mounted on the underside. Slightly odd to see the pickup leads soldered to the board, not even inline mini-coax connectors. Also note the hum coil wire has the clear jacket and visible shielding while the two pickup wires have the newer grey jackets. I theorize (a-hem) that somebody at some point got replacement pickups for the bass but they arrived with the new connectors and the board had the coax tails. So they simply cut the leads and soldered them in. Rob, do you remember if these were the pickups on the bass when you had it?

saw this one. she's pretty. i don't have much luck bonding with fretted series I's for some reason so i'll pass. kinda like to find a nice fretless one before i kick teh bucket. not holding my breath.

you do seem to get around, dontcha? ;-)

Jimmy, the pickups shown were in the bass when I got it, I did not do the work.
Beendown, I’ve owned a few over time.

Fingers crossed - I will be the new caretaker for a while…

I love this one! Will be sending to Mica and crew for LED’s soon though. Got use to them on my others…

Congratulations on the new bass.
Before sending it in to the mothership (1) check to see what the current waitlist is like, your don’t want your bass sitting there for an extended period if they are currently overloaded with work, (2) Given no RF upgrade has been done, take the bass everywhere you will be playing it to see if you are troubled by RF interference (I have no problems at home with one of mine but in 50% of venues I can’t use it. On the other hand I also have a Series I with no upgrade that has no problems) and (3) if #2 is a problem, get the upgrade when you send it in. It’s not cheap but on the bass I’ve had it done its now absolutely quiet everywhere I play.
