So just for interest, my 82 Series 1 was once owned by TM Stevens. A popular bassist out of New York City. He bought it in 82 and sold it a year later and became known for playing Warwicks. On his sales form, the store mistakenly called it a Distillate. How could they make that mistake? Maybe TM deliberately called it that for some reason. The bass shop where i finally bought it told me the story and sent me the proof it was his. The price listed from reverb was $8999. By the time I found it there was a big price drop. I got it for $6650 with shipping included. still a hefty price for me but i make sacrifices and saved. for my dream bass. LOL. Great sounding bass. I still may have the upgrade and move the pickup selector.

Great story Michael. I've loved T.Ms playing since his first HMF album 'BOOM'. Fantastic fun player but I've only ever seen him with Warwicks. He was over here for a session on one of our Manchester Bass days many years ago and kept us enthralled for over an hour. Sadly he's been suffering from dementia since around 2007 and stopped performing.

I am so sad to hear this. Definitely a player with a unique sound and approach.

So, since my bass is former TM's, I wonder how much my bass is really worth if I were to sell it. I have his pawn shop signature and full name as proof it was his. When I bought it, it was listed for 7299.00 June 2022. The store didn't know at the time it was TM Stevens personal bass until they sold it to me. Then they kicked themselves in the butt. LOL.
